Former American Idol star Marque 'Tate' Lynche dies aged 34

    Marque "Tate" Lynche, a contestant on season three of and a former member of , has died at the age of 34. He passed away on Sunday 6 December.

    A spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed to that the actor had died, although his cause of death is currently unknown. Police are in the process of investigating.

    The report went on to say that Marque, who was known as Tate, was found by his roommate in his New York City apartment.

    Tate began his career in the limelight at a young age. He starred in Disney's from 1993 to 1995 – at the same time that Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera appeared on the show.

    Tate was one of the 35 Mouseketeers on the series – the cast who entertained viewers with skits and sketches.

    In later years, Tate was perhaps best known for appearing on the third season of . He sang under the name Marque Lynche and made it to the semi-finals, performing .
